We've had an exciting year in PE so far, with more to go, we all hope!!!  Our next few units will be: Dancing with Wii appropriate dance games K-5, Cosmic Bowling! K-5 and then Cardio Fitness Drumming K-5!

We had just finished our tennis skills lesson (2-5) the week before this break.  We used a homemade version of "Tennis Skillastics".  The link showing the activity in action can be found here:

K-1 Worked in groups to practice striking a ball off of a cone, with a bat, to hit homeruns.  They also practiced fielding the hit ball, throwing it back to the hitter and hitting and running to a cone and back.

All grade levels are now participating in our timed warmup runs and will continue at 3 minutes as the students work to try to increase the amount of laps they accomplish per class. They have been very successful so far!  I also finish most classes with a plickers question that checks the students understanding of one of the class concepts for the day. Here is a link that shows an example of how it works:

All students have been working on the PE and health SOL objectives this year in each lesson, from cardiorespiratory endurance to stretching, range of motion, rolling, bowling, kicking, dribbling, throwing, catching, striking; learning how to care for their bodies, healthy eating habits, many of the bones and muscles, moving to a beat and rhythm, the areas of health-related fitness.
K.1, K.2, K.3, K.4, K.5 - 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 - 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5 - 3.1, 3.2, 3.4, 3.5 - 4.1, 4.2, 4.4 so far - 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 so far.

I've been teaching PE and health for 19 years, having worked at all 3 levels, elementary is my absolute favorite! I love working with your children each day!  I have a beautiful wife and two wonderful kids 8 and 6 years old.  I enjoy most types of sports, running, and HO scale model trains.  I attend Mountain View Community Church in Culpeper and my kids attend Culpeper Christian School.

Here are MANY of the types of fitness videos I use during class (that you can do at home too) for the students enjoyment.
there are many, many more online for your participation enjoyment!  I hope to see you all soon!!
